Dogs & Cats Whispering

A person can reach the limit of his/her patience if the chosen pets are dogs and cats given that these animals cannot live peacefully in one household. Cats and dog have always been depicted in stories as arch enemies. The warfare between dogs and cats has been going on for years. Because of this ongoing dispute, a cat and a dog would not make good choices for a pet in one household.

Dogs actually love cats – man’s best friends love to chase and to torment cats and it seems that cats can’t stand the tough and menacing looks of the dog. A pet parent that has dared to keep a dog and a cat together in one household is to be admired for having a lot of patience. Why do dogs and cats hate each other so much?

The inability to co-exist can be attributed to the difference in personalities. Dogs are very playful animals. Dogs are social animals as well. Being social animals, a dog would need to mingle not only with its human family but with other animals as well. Cats on the other hand are haughty and aloof.

Dogs have an inherent desire to please its people and when not given the chance to be with its human family, dogs would normally suffer from separation anxiety. It is rather different with cats. Being independent creatures, cats would not really mind if the attention of the owner is not received. Although some cats would love to be petted by their masters, they generally do not mind having a busy master as long as their food is regularly provided and the litter box is regularly cleaned. Cats are commonly seen contentedly grooming itself on the window sill. Dogs though being very energetic animals would need to be always up and about.
